Meet the Artist

For Josie Anderson, rock creates... Each rock, with its color, shape and character, has a life of its own. She first began decorating mirrors with tile and soon came up with an idea all her own.

River Rock became her inspiration and now she designs borders around mirrors with an enthusiasm for detail.

Montana Mirrors blends the outdoors with indoors, the rustic with the elegant. Josie's work is personal and passionate, with help from her family.

"The gathering is as important to me as the making of the mirror," she says. Josie and her daughters make an outing of hand picking the rocks along Montana rivers. Her husband cuts the mirrors to size, reinforces the back and attaches the hanger.

Carefully combining the river rock to the mirror includes creative placement and a process of attaching, grouting, cleaning and lots of hours of drying in between. The final mirror is unique. No two of them alike, but they all resemble the artistic river rock fireplaces so popular in today's rustic decorated homes.
